1. Music education matters
  1. Every child should have access to a high quality music education at local and national levels.
  2. Music education is valuable and valued [1]; educationally [2], economically [3] and socially.
  3. In Wales, music services and other groups help schools to deliver opportunities to children who might not get access to music otherwise.
2. Music education in Wales is under threat
  1. There is no identified central funding for music services in Wales [4] (unlike elsewhere in the UK).
  2. Access to music education in Wales could become the preserve of those who can afford it.
  3. Under pressure local authorities are cutting their music services and some (like Powys) have no music service at all!
